Happy Birthday Dad!

So I've been seriously slacking on the blogging but I couldn't skip a birthday post for my Dad for his 50th! Especially if I did one for my mom! So how should I begin well let's start with the obvious, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!! I am so blessed to have the best Dad in the entire world so I figure for the birthday post I'll try and narrow it down to the top ten reasons why he is indeed the best dad in the world. So here's the countdown:
1. He's my biggest cheerleader, he always has faith in me even when I don't think I can do it. Example one, going to school in Fayetteville which I thought was so scary and big but he kept telling me I would love (which I did.)
2. He taught me to drive, this seems like a silly one but seriously the fact that we both survived this fairly unharmed is pretty amazing. Push and pull are confusing concepts and that combined with the confusion of a yield sign really put some strain on the learning to drive thing.
3. He hates talking on the phone but still talks to me everyday at least once, usually twice. While we don't talk long I love that he answers when I call whether it was when I was walking to class or now when I'm on my lunch break.
4. We have a secret handshake. How many Dads do you know who have a secret handshake.....exactly.
5. When I'm home he picks me up and takes me to Sonic and when I have to head back to Fay he sometimes slips me a coupon for free sonic or coke money for the road. It's a little thing but he knows it makes me really happy.
6. He sat through more dance competitions, recitals and half-times than I can count. I'm sure my Dad would have rather been watching a sport but he supported me in everything I did including going running with me a whole summer so I would be ready for high school dance team.
7. He is full of good slogans, his favorite saying, "it's only as fun as you make it."
8. He gives the best pep talks and really is the only person who can calm me down from the 'freakouts' that happen when I feel really stressed, my mom doesn't even try anymore on the big ones and just passes the phone to him.
9. He works so hard and never complains so I could have the childhood other people only dream of.
10. He always has time for me. I never have to go very long without seeing him because if I haven't come home in a while I can count on him to come see me.

Happy Birthday Dad, thank you for everything! You really are the best!

21 Plus 1, The First Anniversary of my 21st Birthday, aka Turning 22

So I celebrated my 22nd birthday in a way I have never done before for the first time in my now 22 years of life I did not wake up in my bed in Conway or see my parents on my birthday. I know this is not a big deal to most people but if you even mildly know me you probably know I am a family girl. I was born 6 weeks early and I'm pretty sure God gave me my birthday because he knew that I wasn't going to be okay with being away at college on my birthday. My parents came up the weekend before my birthday to do a family celebration which was fun. We went to dinner and opened presents and they brought up Ed's petite-fores which are my favorite! Then my mom came up again later on in the week to help me pack for spring break and she left some stuff for me at Jacob's apartment which included a card that said not to open until Saturday. The card was by far the coolest birthday card I have ever seen you opened it and it had a picture of a cupcake with a light up candle and when you "blew" out the candle the card started singing happy birthday! It made me super happy because even if you are going on a cruise a 10 hour car ride on your birthday is not the most exciting thing. Luckily Kara had made me a birthday car care package that included Glee cd's, gum, etc. My sweet friends made the best of a car birthday by letting me sleep most of the way there since the week before had worn me out. When we got to Kathryn's Aunt's house it was Kat's cousin's birthday (whose name is also Katie) too! So they put candles in cakes for both of us which was so nice and sweet of them! We went out for a little while in Houston that night which is definitely a very different city than Fayetteville, ha. I'm keeping the birthday celebration going this weekend when Dani and I are doing birthday dinner followed by a night out in Fayetteville on Friday! I'm super excited for that! I want to post pictures but I'm not really sure where my camera is currently so those will come at a later date! Thanks everyone for a FANTASTIC birthday! Lots of love!!

Happy Birthday (A Day Late) Mom!

Whoops, I really meant to write this yesterday but I got a little too busy celebrating at home, so here goes (we can just pretend this was posted yesterday). HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST MOM EVER! Seriously, I know lots of people say they have the best mom in the entire world but I would put my mom up against any of them. I never realized how much my mom does until I came to college and realized not every one's mom does the same things. My mom did and continues to do so much for me that I just put in the category of well of course she does, because she's my mom but apparently it's not that way for everyone. I had no idea that it isn't required of moms to make breakfast everyday before you go to school because my mom did. I didn't know that every one's mom didn't take them three different places each year to buy school supplies because she knows how important it is that they get just the right things. I didn't know that every one's mom doesn't give a million pep talks a day about how you can be a big kid and go to a real internship and answer a thousand questions about what she thinks I should wear. I didn't know that every one's mom doesn't sound happy every time they call because even if it is my 100th phone call that day my mom still sounds happy to hear from me. My mom doesn't have to do any of the stuff she does for me but she does because she's the best mom EVER! And I hope that she had the best birthday ever because she deserves it! Thank you Mom for being the best and I'm so glad that I got to come home and celebrate with you! I can't wait to see you in two weeks for Mom's day so we can do what we do best, shop!! I love you Mom, thanks for being so awesome! I hope that I can be at least a fourth of what you are someday! Happy Birthday!!

My future roomies, so excited!!!

Panama! OMG, Spring Break 2010 was a success! We all rolled out of Conway at 4 am to head toward Panama City! There were 10 of us from Arkansas and we were meeting two girls from Rhode Island. Nick, Austin, and Matt had left the night before and headed toward Panama and us girls (Nat, Chan, Deb, Dani, Kat, Sgibs) began our mass roadtrip. About 11 hours later we eventually made it to our house. And the 11 hour drive was most definitely worth it! We had so much fun, we went out to Spinnaker's and Sharky's which was SO fun. I celebrated my birthday for at least half the trip, at which point I decided that it was time for my birthday to be over, haha. We layed out a few days and then went to Destin one day and shopped at the outlets. It was just so great to have a break from school and hang out with all my faves, loooved it! So this is probably my last catch up post and I really am hoping to blog more, last night when I couldn't sleep I was reading some of my old blog entries and I realized I would never have remembered some of that stuff if I hadn't blogged it! Love you bloggy friends!

KB & Me at Old Chicago for the 1st Drink!!

Time for the BIRTHDAY post!!! BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!! I had the best week long celebration ever. I have the absolute best friends and family ever. On the Thursday before my birthday Schuett rode back to Conway with me and we met up with Emily and KB at Old Chicago at midnight so I could order my first legal drink! It was so much fun, nothing like a birthday cake shot to start your 21st birthday off right, ha. My actual birthday was spent running errands with Schuett and eating breakfast at my regular birthday breakfast spot, Stoby's of course. That night my parents pulled out all the stops and threw me the best birthday party I've ever had. It was so much fun. I love them so much for taking the time to put together such a great night for me and my friends. We had a seafood boil and all my friends from Fay were there and so were my faves from Conway. It was like the best of both worlds! My grandma made me a red velvet cake and my mom also ordered me a cake from Lisa's Cake Boutique. Nini's cake tasted awesome, as always but I was so excited to have a store bought cake too. The cake from Lisa's was SO cute my mom did such a great job picking out a cake that was 100% me! I loved how everything from the party was coordinating, all my friends were like at least we know now where you got your love of coordination and birthdays, ha. On top of that my sweet friends had put together the ultimate girly 21st birthday gift including tiara and nail polish! I have to say 21 was probably the best birthday so far. I can't wait to see what else this year has in store. Ps. Sorry this post was so delayed, the continued birthday celebration pics will come with the Panama post! Love ya bloggy friends!

Another Catch Up Post...

Hey bloggy friends, so I know I missed a few days again, but don't worry I'm not quitting blogging, things have just been so crazy between initiations and the blizzard. Fayetteville got so much snow, I don't know what the exact amount is but it was definitely the most snow I have ever seen in my life. Thursday night we went over to Naustin's for Nat's birthday. The night was definitely a success and we continued the birthday celebration last night at Grub's. We braved the snow and managed to make it to Grub's and it was a blast. Later Kat, Chan, Schuey, and I headed over to Sigma Chi. So to continue with the ramble of a post, Friday was pretty much just filled with initiations. The major happy moment of Friday came when I headed downstairs and discovered that we had Chicken Finger Friday even though school was cancelled, it's so funny how happy something so little can just brighten your day. I have rediscovered over this blizzard that I am still not really a fan of snow, I still think snow is just winter's cheap imitation of sand. We went sledding on Friday and I have to admit that it was fun for a while but literally after like an hour I was so done with the cold. My hands felt like icicles and I literally thought I was a human Popsicle. My despise for the slick, cold, wet white stuff outside is a mutual feeling because not a single other person on Friday fell walking anywhere other than me. I busted it trying to walk back, at which point I decided I was done with the snow. OK, so here's a new thought I'm getting kind of tired of the whole just listing my day's events and while I'll more than likely still do that the other night I made a list of fun blog topics so I'm hoping to use some of those for new fun blog posts. My happy moment for today was simply it still being the weekend, I LOVE three day weekends they give you so much more time to do everything. Like if it hadn't been a three day weekend I would never have gotten my laundry done or had time to be a bum and finish my homework. I'm hoping that by tomorrow the snowy mess will be gone enough that I can get back into a routine, I'm definitely missing working out and being able to get out and about as I please. Oh and I almost forgot my other happy moment is that I have NEW PICTURES to put up with today's post. Today's picture is one of me, Schuett, and the birthday girl. Talk to you tomorrow (hopefully) blog friends.

Summer Please Hurry, Love Katie

Hey world! Today's was one of those wonderfully normal days. You know the days where you just wake up and are in a good mood and it just keeps going throughout the day. I woke up before my alarm which always makes me happy and my classes seem super interesting and even though the HPER was super busy I got a machine super fast and then I managed to buy all my books used. I just love days where all the little things line up. So today while I was writing down all the stuff from my syllabus I realized that my BIRTHDAY is in 66 days (if I counted right) which also means spring break is in 66 days!!! We are going to Panama City for spring break, but I prefer to refer to it as we are going to the beach for my BIRTHDAY!! I'm so excited, it's going to be so much fun. What could be more fun than a week on the beach! I cannot wait! Yay, yay, yay! Today's pic, is from Labor Day weekend and was as close to a summer of a picture that I could find. So today's little bit of happy moment was knowing people in all of my classes. So, yes, I know this sounds lamer than lame but I hate when I don't know anyone on the first day of school.
